How Is Root Canal Treatment Diagnosed?
The tooth slated for root canal treatment is evaluated through both an intraoral examination and radiographic assessment. The depth of decay and any changes observed in the surrounding tissues on X-rays are considered. Additionally, the diagnosis is influenced by the degree and frequency of the patient’s pain.
To determine whether the tooth is vital or non-vital, tests are performed by applying a cold stimulus or an electric current. Root canal treatment is always indicated for non-vital teeth.
