What is Sinus Lifting Operation?
08 Nisan 2025

The maxillary sinuses are anatomically air-filled cavities located symmetrically within the bone on either side of the nasal septum, adjacent to our upper jaw, and they perform various functional roles.
The sinuses may extend downward, coming into close proximity with the roots of the premolars and/or molars. In some cases, following the extraction of these neighboring teeth, they may sag downward due to the loss of support.

Regardless of how they are formed, when the bone height between the sinus cavity and the oral cavity is insufficient, it becomes impossible to treat edentulous areas with dental implants of appropriate length. In such situations, the procedure that involves lifting the sagging sinus floor to create sufficient bone height for dental implant placement is called sinus lifting or sinus elevation.
